Designer: BODE

Location: New York Fashion Week

Season: FW19

Key Pieces: Corduroy-collar, PVC jackets filled with pennies in slide #2.

Editor’s Notes: Designer Emily Bode focused the BODE FW19 collection on her shared interests with New York art historian and gallerist Todd Alden.

Together, the pair found a mutual appreciation for the kind of ephemera that is usually discarded –pennies, milk caps, baseball cards, and band posters etc – which was then married with New England collegiate styles. This was most notable in the transparent PVC jacket lined with pennies and then rounded off with a smart corduroy collar – a stand-out piece that’s surely to become a collector’s item. Elsewhere, FW19 saw the introduction of BODE denim, made using fabric from the last American denim mills.
