Some silhouettes exist in a world of their own, exempt from the volatility of trends. Something like the Converse Chuck Taylor 70, which since 2013 has been leading the charge for Converse, taking over from the classic Chuck Taylor that dominated sports and lifestyle for a large chunk of the 20th century. Perhaps most attractive about the Converse Chuck Taylor is its versatility which comes in especially handy for collaborations. Converse x Slam Jam Chuck Taylor 70, anyone?

Slam Jam founder Luca Benini is a self-professed ‘80s fanatic, inspired by the American rock bands of the era who favored the Converse Chuck Taylor both on and off stage. The Converse x Slam Jam Chuck Taylor 70 pays homage to the boundary-breaking artists of the ‘80s but uses the chunky 70 silhouette to ensure that the retrospective inspirations are carried into the modern day.

The Converse x Slam Jam Chuck Taylor 70 is characterized by deconstruction. Frayed edges offer a punk-rock aesthetic that sits atop the signature clean white rubber sole unit, complete with black pinstripe. A light grey border between the sole unit and upper mirrors the grey laces which add pop to the classic black & white color palette. A tonal Slam Jam logo details the outer ankle while the Converse star logo takes up its usual spot on the interior.
