If you head to the Xixi National Wetland Park situated on the outskirts of Hangzhou in China you will find the floating homes by David Chipperfield Architects. Bringing you closer to nature, the residential apartment buildings sit atop the marshland, generating a strong connection with the environment. Structured from stone plinths that offer a unique contrast to the wetlands, these floating homes draw inspiration from the local surrounding village. Once inside, floor-to-ceiling windows bring in natural light and give off a serene view of the area. Touching on the original Hangzhou heritage the design is in keeping with its lush green surroundings.
While you’re at it you might want to take a look inside the incredible home of Architect Paulo Mendes Da Rocha.
