Snow Peak’s Ex-President Now Makes Killer Hotel Merch
Desa Potato Head Bali, a resort and beach club located in the heart of Seminyak’s creative village, is having a year to remember. First, it was named among the 50 best hotels in the world and then it collaborated with the prestigious design firm OMA to open a new restaurant and an immersive nightclub space created alongside DJ Harvey.
Now, the luxurious resort (or, creative village, as it prefers to be called) is launching a killer merch collection created by its newly-appointed designer.
Lisa Yamai, who previously served as Snow Peak's President and Creative Director, has assumed the role of Chief Product Officer for Potato Head's product line and this is her debut offering.
You’d be forgiven for assuming that a member of Snow Peak’s alumni is going to create technical, weatherproof outdoor gear for the hotel (that is, after all, what the Japanese label is known for), however, Lisa Yamai has created just the opposite.
Lisa, the granddaughter of Snow Peaks’ founder, Yukio Yamai, has created a colorful collection focusing on bold graphics.
Across the selection is a range of streetwear-imbued styles, such as patterned football jerseys and a graphic-heavy motorcycle shirt, alongside more typical summer wear in the form of slip dresses and matching sets of shirts and shorts.
In keeping with the Desa Potato Head ethos (its sustainability efforts saw it recently achieve B Corp status), the collection forefronts recycled and organic materials.
"We are excited to launch our new merchandise, which not only showcases our unique style but also reflects our commitment to sustainability," says Lisa Yamai. "By incorporating eco-friendly materials and designs inspired by our vibrant culture, we aim to inspire our customers to embrace a lifestyle that is both timeless and environmentally conscious."
Available to shop from Desa Potato Head, Bali and online (prices range from $52 to $135), the collection lets you bring home (and wear) a piece of the celebrated resort.
A hotel creating merch is, of course, not a new concept, however, Desa Potato Head has always made some of the best. Its previous collaborations with DJ Peggy Gou and Boiler Room have been especially memorable and now that it has Lisa Yamai on board, its in-line offering has been upgraded.
