The first trailer for Detective Pikachu arrived yesterday, and the Ryan Reynolds-voiced picture has prompted a rather wild reaction within the Twittersphere. While most fans are fairly obsessed with the 3D reincarnation of the beloved, electrocuting Pokémon — complete with fur and adorable puppy-dog eyes — some have been left with a rather sinister after taste.

The movie, which sees Detective Pikachu linking up with a 21-year-old Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) to track down his missing father, is set on the neon-lit streets of Ryme city. In Ryme, Pokémon live alongside humans — it would seem, however, Tim is one of the few people actually able to understand Pikachu's language.

The trailer delivered looks at other beloved creatures such as Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and more — in all their furry, life-like glory. Watch it above, and then keep scrolling for a look at how the internet is reacting.
