A modern interpretation of a look and attitude that was started back in 1969 by first generation skinheads, the "Spirit of ’69” collection from Dr. Martens is all about style and detail, specific materials and practical durability. Using the exact construction and stitch details as the famous MA-1 flight jacket from Alpha Industries, two styles have been created for the collection and come in black or oxblood nylon, both with a striking yellow lining. Considered details include a Dr. Martens branded leather zip pull, and the use of the famous heel loop usually found at the back of a pair of DM’s as an additional zip pull on the side arm pocket. These famous jackets first made their way into Europe as black market imports of American army surplus and became a staple subcultural item on British streets from the 1960s onwards. The "Spirit of '69” MA-1 flight jacket will soon be available exclusively at Dr. Martens' own online and retail stores, as well as Selfridges.
