Investor confidence in Tesla‘s futuristic Cybertruck may be low. But consumers are flocking to the “futuristic-like cyberpunk, Blade Runner pickup” which suffered a disastrous unveiling in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Elon Musk tweeted that in just three days 146,000 of the Cybertruck had been ordered and that Tesla had achieved this feat without any advertising or paid endorsements.

The Cybertruck went viral thanks to an ill-fated launch that saw the vehicle’s “unbreakable” armor-glass windows shattered. Tesla’s share price subsequently dropped by 6%  and Musk’s net worth plummeted by $768 million in a single day.

The consumer interest in the Cybertruck is probably welcome news for Musk. Placing an order costs $100, which Tesla says is fully refundable.
