Following an impressive debut last year, Raf Simons returns for another colorful collection with famed Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat, unveiled yesterday in Tokyo. For 2015 new textiles and colors appear in a range which places focus on "Twill," emphasising the strong diagonal pattern found across hard-wearing fabrics such as denim and gabardine. Three fresh designs: "Noise," "Masai" and "Sirocco," update this traditional weaving technique with a mixture of colored yarns, resulting in a vibrant finish that combines bright flecks with a tactile bouclé surface. Simons comments "It felt new to us. The combinations of diverse yarn qualities and multiple twisted yarns create depth and the colour results are surprising and striking."

Thirteen new cushion designs will carry this distinctive rainbow of tones, accompanied by matching throws in baby alpaca, wool and cashmere. To bring the designs to life, Raf Simons and Kvadrat work with celebrated furniture makers, Cassina and Fritz Hansen, adding the new materials to the "Lady Chair" by Marco Zanuso and the "PK80" from Poul Kjærholm. Keep an eye on the website for release and purchase information.
