After much delay, Lil Wayne finally announces the release date for his long-awaited 12th studio album, Tha Carter V. The LP is scheduled to arrive Friday, September 28, in conjunction with Weezy's 36th birthday, which takes place September 27.

In addition to sharing a link to his Carter V website, featuring a coinciding countdown, Wayne also uploaded a special announcement video.

“I heard there was a misunderstanding about the release date of the C 5. I heard y'all got mixed up and thought it was gonna get released like last week or something. Well, I would like for you to know that since y'all stuck with me and hung in there anyway for like the past four or five years through all of this but uh on my birthday, I actually have something special. I will be releasing Tha Carter V on my birthday,” he said.

Tha Carter V has been delayed for several years in large part due to a legal battle between Lil Wayne and Birdman. Thankfully, the two finally came to an agreement, and Wayne has been freed of his Cash Money contract, now allowing him to release the album.

In other music news, Lil Yachty is starring in the ‘How High’ sequel.
