Editor’s Notes: NEPENTHES, famous for being one of the last remaining bastions of New York City’s iconic Garment District and, of course, its en vogue track pants from in-house brand Needles, has teamed up with Reebok on a sneaker collaboration that focuses on a clean, no-frills design.

The understated design speaks for itself, like much of what NEPENTHES does. A clean white upper is contrasted by a hairy grey suede, giving the Workout Plus Low a noticeable, but not too drastic, twist.

As part of the sneaker’s release, NEPENTHES has put together an editorial campaign that references Reebok Classic’s 2000 ad featuring Los Lobos. Check it out above.

Speaking to Highsnobiety, NEPENTHES’ Angelo Urrutia says, “I picked the Workout Plus because Daiki [Suzuki] and Keizo [Shimizu] sold a lot of them when they started and then added a rougher textured rough-out suede with a more oversized ghillie and left it as clean as possible. The campaign came from an old ‘Los Lobos’ ad for Reebok.”

The sneakers dropped first at NEPENTHES NY on February 8, with a wider release following at select retailers today, February 15.
