For the first time ever, Netflix is using Google Cardboard and VR to promote an original show. And what better series to highlight than the rising favorite, Stranger Things?

With their debut VR clip, Netflix allows you to step inside the creepy world of Stranger Things. When watching the aesthetic with any type of 360 VR viewer, you will be completely immersed into the small Indiana town in 1983.

Thanks to the 360 YouTube visual, you can in turn maneuver around during a particularly intense moment in the Netflix original show and ultimately discover a shocking finale.

“Yes, this is the first time we’ve used Google Cardboard and VR to promote a specific show (if you don’t count 360 video),” Netflix revealed to TechCrunch in a statement. “Stranger Things is a uniquely atmospheric series that inspired us to create a fun way to immerse viewers in the rich world, allow them to experience the thrills and mystery of the story and excite them to watch the series.”

Netflix is currently exploring additional possibilities of taking advantage of VR in regards to storytelling.
