Nicki Minaj has dropped a surprise new track titled "The Pinkprint Freestyle," featuring references to Harambe the gorilla and a spot-on M.I.A. impression.
The nearly six-minute-long track sees Minaj return to her rap roots with rapid-fire verses over the beat of Young M.A.'s "Ooouuu" and later includes parts of M.I.A.’s smash hit “Paper Planes.” The song begins with a shout-out to Lil Wayne, thanking him for "signing a little chick from Queens," before referencing Harambe and comparing herself to Jay Z.
Elsewhere in the track she raps, "I'm a brand, according to what retail say / Yeah, my tour she selling out on pre-sale day / Plus I got the Tidal queen stream, press replay."
This is first time fans have been treated to new music from Minaj since her 2014 album, The Pinkprint, which featured hits like “Only,” “Anaconda” and “Truffle Butter.” She also recently appeared in Ariana Grande’s “Side to Side” video and performed the song alongside the pop singer on the 2016 MTV VMAs last month.
