The North Face Metro Ex Merges the Outdoors With Urban Cityscapes
When it comes to adaptable and functional attire, The North Face consistently makes the cut. Using the outdoors as their playground, the brands latest drop, Metro Ex, focuses on adventure and exploration with an underlying concept based on fusing nature with urban environments.
Released on February 26, this collection is the first of two, and redefines versatility whilst bringing an electric energy to outerwear apparel. With the slogan 'Rooted in nature, Crafted for the city', Metro Ex ticks all the boxes when it comes to ergonomic and practical design. From quick-drying FlashDry™ technology to hardy stretch-nylon fabrication (and of course all the staples of The North Face's technical DNA), this ensemble ensures security and comfort.
With the technicalities taken care of, we can concentrate on the aesthetics of this collection . The North Face teamed up with London based graphic artist, Jiro Bevis, to create some custom sketches to layer over the different garments. Drop one includes some of The North Face's long-standing silhouettes. The Lhotse Jacket, Track Jacket, Track Pant, and cap are given a graffiti makeover and a pop of color. The print is whimsical and vibrant with splashes of bright yellow, bold blue, and lavender - a sure fire way to stand out. The weaving linear illustrations reflect the intertwining of skyscrapers and industrial buildings with green, natural spaces, something that is also cleverly depicted in the release video below.
In times like now, when being outdoors is almost like a welcomed luxury, why not dress the part? Get your hands on the collection online here and in select The North Face stores.
