Cycling enthusiast Paul Smith follows up the popular 531 range with more bike goods as he joins helmet maker Kask for a colorful new addition. The professional-standard "Protone" helmet gets a bold makeover inspired by Smith's Spring/Summer 2015 palette, gradient, muted shades of blue, red and green coated with an iridescent finish. Following in the footsteps of big names including Rapha, Mercian and the Giro D’Italia, Kask are the latest trusted brand to catch the designer's eye; the Italian maker famed for its tough and contemporary headwear.
Premiered by Team Sky riders on the 2014 Tour de France, this project places functionality and performance first, the headwear's good looks almost incidental. As Paul Smith point out "it should be more than adequate for weekend club rides or your daily commute." Balancing ventilation and aerodynamics, a hard trick to pull off, Kask have rigourously tested the helmet in wind tunnels, carefully arranging the air scoops to "maximize airflow with minimal drag." The resulting product allows you to hit high speeds while keeping you cool, Kask's adjustable "Octo Fit" interior, 3D dry padding and anti-allergy chinstrap contributing to the helmet's comfortable fit. Currently sold out online, Paul Smith will be receiving a full shipment in August, keep an eye on the webpage for updates.
