Who said Quentin Tarantino could never make a family movie? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the auteur has already begun work on a new project about the Manson family murders.
With the project in its embryonic stages, details regarding the plot are thin on the ground. One of the stories, however, is expected to be centered around Sharon Tate, the pregnant actress who was brutally murdered by Manson and his followers in 1969.
The movie’s title is currently unknown, but the article claims that Harvey and Bob Weinstein have signed on to produce. It states that Jennifer Lawrence and Brad Pitt, who Tarantino previously worked with on Inglorious Basterds, have been sounded out for leading roles, although Lawrence is not said to be considering any involvement. Margot Robbie is another name in the mix for the part of Sharon Tate.
The report says that Tarantino's talent agency, WME, is in the early stages of shopping the venture to third parties as they attempt to co-finance and co-distribute it — just as they did with Inglorious Basterds.
Throughout the years, Tarantino has said that he plans to make 10 movies in total, meaning this would be his second last. A story about the Manson family would tread new ground as it would be his first based on real life events.
