Riccardo Tisci has just unveiled his second line for Burberry, an impressive pre-collection for Fall/Winter 2019. Tisci said, “I wanted this collection to be a continuation of the story I began to tell in September,” referring to Spring/Summer 2019’s hugely successful debut “Kingdom” collection. His latest presentation makes strong allusions to streetwear and a certain military chic, cementing the themes he set out to portray last season.
Known for his love of sportswear, Tisci has turned his attention to establishing Burberry’s codes. He told press that he has put a particular focus on archive prints, house colors and iconic outerwear. For this particular pre-collection, Tisci incorporates elegance and contemporaneity. Once again demonstrating a capacity to blend elements of streetwear and high fashion, a style that made him such a success at Givenchy for over a decade.
The Italian designer took over from Christopher Bailey, as chief creative officer at Burberry in March this year. The label has been “energized” by Tisci’s recent changes which included his refreshed logo and monogram design, and a wider strategy to reposition the brand over time.
