Double Tap to Zoom

As we collide head-on with the effects of the climate crisis in our everyday lives, fashion brands are being forced to take action. Sustainable fashion has become as important as the craftsmanship of clothing itself, and emerging designers are the ones leading the way. Among the long list of designers taking a stand on sustainability, Robyn Lynch is at the forefront.

The Dublin-born designer launched her eponymous label in 2018 and has garnered deserved recognition, becoming this year’s Woolmark prize finalist. The brand's rise to fame is no surprise, though. Lynch mixes her Irish roots with sportswear cues, developing a signature technical style showcased in her menswear collections and collaborations with outdoor experts such as Columbia.

Initially, Robyn Lynch teamed up with the outerwear maestro for her SS22 collection to reference her childhood years in which she would often wear Columbia’s performance pieces. For this nostalgic second round, Lynch puts an experimental spin on the American brand’s old-school aesthetic by crafting garments such as belted coats, lightweight puffers, and, of course, bubble jackets.

This piece features a recycled shell, ideal for outdoor activities. Besides its sustainable composition, the garment takes sportswear elements such as the cuff’s velcro straps, fixed hood, and elasticated bubble hem for versatility. Lynch’s ability to bring a new character to classic sportswear is also showcased in the jacket's bubble-shaped sleeves.

Robyn Lynch raises awareness of sustainability while bringing new technical styles into today's streetwear sphere. This Bubble Jacket might be your call to start experimenting with outdoor staples, and also discovering new ways of contributing to the eco-movement.
