Steve Lacy‘s debut solo album Apollo XXI drops this Friday, but before it does, the singer has one more single to share: “Playground.”

The Prince-influenced “Playground” sees Lacy experimenting with a falsetto vocal while a funky bass line and vocal effects add to the psychedelic vibe. Listen to the track below.

In the build-up to Apollo XXIlow-key style god Lacy has also dropped a recent video for “Outro Freestyle” and the April single “N Side.”

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Lacy explained the influences behind “Playground.” “I think this was in my Prince phase, where I was all Prince, but I also have my Dirty Projectors phase in there.” Lacy also revealed that he plays every instrument on the track, but brought in some outside help from Jesse Boykins for the lyrics. Listen to the interview below.
