Childish Gambino gave an early Christmas present to the world in the form of Awaken, My Love!, an ambitious new album that traded in his former sound as a rapper in exchange for a new sonic persona indebted to old school funk and R&B. Last night, Gambino stopped by The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to promote the record with a performance of the single "Redbone." It was impressive, and it was sexy. Watch it below: Performing in the incredible combo of glitter pants and no shirt, Gambino (alias Donald Glover) proved that his vocal chops extended far beyond the walls of a studio. His voice is eerily similar to the funk records of the '70s that inspired the new work, but it is a sound that is utterly genuine, not just an imitation.

In other music news, Gucci Mane and Travis Scott both stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! for a rendition of Gucci's single "Last Time." Watch it right here.
