In September, Balenciaga is due to open a new flagship store in Paris, but prior to, the luxury fashion house has today welcomed customers to its latest location in New York.
The space was configured by artistic director Demna Gvasalia, as the interior transfers the industrially-inspired environment of the previous Paris flagship to NY. Ultimately, the new shop reestablishes Balenciaga’s presence in Manhattan, both uptown and downtown, where there are already two existing locations in SoHo.
The new 1,800-square-foot space draws on the feel of the label’s production headquarters, and will house women’s and men’s collections, in addition to accessories. The industrial fashion environment is in turn further accented by concrete and glass, as clothes hang from the aluminium foil-covered ceiling on warehouse conveyor rails, silicone curtains close the changing rooms, benches are covered in synthetic leather, and display tables are also showcased in aluminium.
