1017 ALYX 9SM

Moncler Genius has partnered with 1017 ALYX 9SM for a second time. The two brands' inaugural collaboration, back in 2018, was all about clean lines that played with our preconceptions of Alpine-ready outerwear. In other words, it made ski-wear sexy. Like, something you'd strap into for a downhill run in the alps, but also wouldn't look out of place if you threw it on before an ill-advised, late-night Uber to your ex's house.

The sophomore collaboration follows on from this — the desirability factor that is — albeit with a slightly more playful ratio of proportions, duvet-like fabrication, and an expansive color palette to bring in some on-trend neutral tones for the new season.

The collaboration includes hero pieces such as the hooded garment-dyed glossy laqué nylon jacket, and a cropped high-collared version in black. There are also high-performance technical trousers, ribbed ECONYL® seamless yarn leggings, hooded neck gaiters, chunky black rubber boots, a heavily modified chest rig with a zip closure down the front, hoodies, gloves, sunglasses, and accessories for the iPhone.

Speaking to Highsnobiety, 1017 ALYX 9SM founder and creative director Matthew Williams says: "We worked very closely with Moncler's studio in Milan and it was great to be able to share different areas of expertise and apply signature 1017 ALYX 9SM codes to the history of Moncler."

These codes that Williams speaks of allude to the signature metallic hardware that makes his designs so iconic. These buckles, known to be inspired by the rollercoaster's from Six Flags amusement park in the US, find themselves around the collars of the puffy tan, gold, and black puffer jackets, as well as around the waist of the pants, and on the back of the caps. Among all the utilitarian metallic fastenings, there's also a bit of glamor in the collection with a puffer jacket embellished with a dust coating of Swarovski crystals.
