Highsnobiety

Bernie Sanders' inauguration fit launched a relentless stream of memes and brought mittens back into the public consciousness. Now, the Vermont school teacher behind the internet-famous accessory is giving Bernie stans one last chance to get their hands on their very own pair.

Jen Ellis received around 13,000 email orders for her knitted goods once news spread that she'd crafted Bernie's woolen mitts. Having temporarily sold out thanks to high demand, Ellis is preparing for one final and extremely limited drop. And of course, it's being auctioned for a good cause.

Taking to Twitter, Ellis announced that she's making "a few more mittens" that will be auctioned off this morning on MSNBC. It's probably one of the few opportunities you'll get to land her craft wear. She recently revealed that she won't be selling many more mittens moving forward. She explained, “I don’t have any more, and I don’t have much of a mitten business anymore because it really wasn’t worth it.”

Ellis initially sent Sanders a pair of mittens after he lost to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Democratic presidential primary. She then learned that (like us) he was a fan. Then, when Sanders was running again for president, Ellis learned that they'd become affectionately known as his "oven mitts" on the trail – so she sent him 10 more pairs.

With few of the mittens in circulation right now, tuning in to MSNBC today might be your chance to cop the historic knitted grail. We've also put together a list of ten of the finest pairs around right now, from affordable brands including COS right up to luxury mittens by the likes of Margiela.
