Architect John Lautner has built houses that look like spaceships and others that look like seashells. The Sheats-Goldstein Residence though, a home carved into a hillside in Los Angeles, is his most iconic.

Constructed during the first years of the 1960s, the house is a testament to the power of creativity and collaboration. The same commitment to creative freedom and expression brought Dom Pérignon, Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon, and polymath star Lady Gaga, to LA for a special celebration.

Last week, the three came together to host a dinner and party at the Sheats-Goldstein Residence to mark another successful iteration of their own collaboration: the Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2008 Lady Gaga Limited Edition.

Arriving through the home’s lush vegetation, guests found that the tennis court, etched into its own stretch of the hill and lit by a series of glowing arches, had been transformed. Net removed and surface covered, the court’s expanse was replaced with a table that ran its length and offered unforgettable views of the sparkling city below.

Catered by Jordan Kahn’s Vespertine, a renowned LA-based restaurant, and inspired by Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2008, guests ate dishes like the Chiaroscuro where unexpected pairings like tomato and tapioca were further proof of what happens when creativity is unbridled and juxtaposition embraced.

In between courses, Chaperon led a toast that honored the ambition that he and Lady Gaga had to revel in the harmony born of creative tensions. Raising a glass, guests enjoyed the sweet (and bubbly) taste of a one-of-a-kind collaboration.

Adding to the intimacy of the evening, Lady Gaga introduced one of her own musical partners, Grammy-winning pianist and composer Alex Smith, who she shared she’d spent hours collaborating with that very day. Smith serenaded guests with a selection of songs that brought the conversation to a thoughtful pause as the music became the star of the evening.

That wasn’t the end of the celebration though. A short walk away at Club James, the Sheats Goldstein in-house nightclub, DJ HANA, and Lady Gaga spun a mix that ranged from Gaga’s own classic “Money Honey” to dance hits like “Groove Is In The Heart” and favorites from Beyonce’s Renaissance.

By the end of the night, guests hit the dancefloor and continued to sip on a glass or two of the evening’s namesake drink - or as the bartender observed, “It’s Dom Pérignon Rosé all day.”
