Now according to multiple sources, including ESPN contributor and Nice Kicks‘ creative director Nick DePaula, the Toronto rapper is reportedly departing Jumpman, and is close to signing with adidas.
According to Sole Collector, sources say that Drake is “looking for an exit and a new deal that would afford him more creative control.” One such brand that would reportedly give him more power is adidas, as he would join other top influencers already with Kanye West and Pharrell Williams — both of whom have been able to produce and design far greater, and enjoy more success since signing with adidas.
adidas has already overtaken Jordan Brand as the number two brand in the United States for sports footwear last year, and the Three Stripes plan to keep the momentum going in 2018 with their strategy of creative partnerships, especially if this deal is actually confirmed.
