While performing in Paris, France on March 13 as part of his Assassination Vacation Tour, Drake took to the stage wearing a previously-unseen colorway of Nike’s Zoom Vomero 5.

Drake recently stepped up his on-stage wardrobe - assisted by stylist and Kith alumnus Mellany Sanchez - and often dons custom pieces from brands ranging from Nike to Louis Vuitton. While it’s still very unclear if he plans to re-sign with Nike or move to adidas, Drake also often previews sneakers that are set to release at a later date. It’s also unknown whether the Zoom Vomero 5 will be released by Nike or if they were custom-made for Drake.

Either way, they were eye-catching enough to warrant a closer look, courtesy of @antsoulo. Featuring a blacked-out upper, the only pops of color are red stripes that run from down the lateral sides, across the outsole, and back up the medial sides of the shoe. The lateral Swoosh looks to be made of rubber instead of the regular stitched-on leather normally used. There is also no branding on the tongue and a strap that runs up and across the laces.

The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 was recently relaunched through an exclusive collaboration with A-COLD-WALL*’s Samuel Ross, who added a heel sculpture at the heel of his design, reminiscent of the PUMA RS-0. When the Air Vomero first dropped in 2007, it debuted a new type of foam, which was said by Nike to be “softer and more responsive than any material available at the time.” The Zoom Vomero 5 took things to a new level years later when it separated the Zoom Air cushioning in the heel and forefoot.

Check out Drake’s pair above and stay tuned for updates regarding whether or not these will be made publicly available.
