Denim specialists EDWIN unveil their new collection for SS16, with aesthetics largely defined by a "less is more" attitude and a palette rooted in white, natural, indigo, grey, navy, black, khaki and stone beige.

What this translates to is a well-appointed array of simple, everyday essentials that reference the pillars of contemporary streetwear: skate and sportswear mix with the brand’s denim DNA and its military-inspired imprint for a clean look.

Silhouettes are varied, however, with closer-cut outerwear tops – such as with the Transit Parka and the Baller Bomber – juxtaposing to baggier bottoms represented through slim fit chinos and looser fitting pleated pants.

The label also uses SS16 to debut the E Standard – Made in Japan capsule collection composed of three denim silhouettes: the Modern Regular Tapered fit denim jean in rinsed and dark washes, as well as the Classic Regular Tapered and Regular Classic Straight pieces in rainbow selvedge denim. All are made in Japan and all are priced at the mid-point sweet spot.

Meanwhile, EDWIN's Indigo denim line returns for a second season, with the capsule collection available in two shades of 9oz indigo slubby canvas. Lightweight indigo poplin shirts mix dark and lighter shades, using the contrast to highlight key sportswear-inspired features. Meanwhile, a yarn-dyed indigo french terry fabric is used for pieces more overtly rooted in sportswear, such as EDWIN's track pant and the brand’s Huey, Emblem and Marvin pieces.
