Highsnobiety
Double Tap to Zoom

Last night, Highsnobiety was on the ground at Pioneer Works in New York City to celebrate the launch of the Lacoste x Keith Haring collaboration. Pioneer Works, located in Red Hook, Brooklyn, is a non-profit center that champions arts and community building, making it an ideal space to pay tribute to Haring’s work.

Guests were treated to a first view of Haring’s Boys Club Mural, which was originally painted in 1987 on the wall of the Boy’s Club of New York, a community center, on Pitt Street in the Lower East Side. The massive mural – measuring twenty by twenty feet and coming in at forty thousand pounds, to be specific – was removed in 2007 when the building was to undergo demolition. Debuting its new home at Pioneer Works was definitely a highlight of the night.

“I think it’s pretty cool. Keith Haring was a very open-hearted individual and I like his stuff. It’s simple and cool,” Lakeith Stanfield told us. “Tonight is cool. It’s kind of like a museum situation. A whole bunch of cool shit to see. I appreciate it.”

Other notable guests included ASAP Nast, Ashton Sanders, G-Eazy, and Quincy Brown, to name a few. Attendees got a first look at the Lacoste x Keith Haring collaboration that was featured on live models as well as suspended on walls, which echoed the artwork on display. The collection features a broad range of pieces for men, women, and kids. Some of our favorite pieces include the polo tees with the all-over Haring print and the kicks.

“I’m excited to be rocking it. I’ve already put together two or three outfits… I want all of the tees, because the pop colors and stuff on top of the graphics – that’s been my thing lately. I think the graphics work. It really kind of puts attitude in your swag,” Quincy Brown shared with us. “I think it’s incredible when brands collab with people who dare to be different. You know, fashion is this universal language, but so is this art. I think bringing both worlds together really sets a precedent for fashion designers, us models, and us artists to really represent ourselves in different ways. This is an incredible approach that they took.”

The energy of the evening was high and guests got down to the beats of DJ Vashtie Kola who spun the best of ’90s and ’00s R&B and hip-hop. And a special performance by dance sensation Salif Gueye got the crowd going.

The Lacoste x Keith Haring collaboration is now available online and at Lacoste stores worldwide. And for an even closer look at the collection, check out how these three Berlin artists are rocking it.
