In the fashion world, a new sneaker is released almost every month, and — for us sneakerheads — it’s never enough. While we drool over new silhouettes, it would be impossible to deny the power old-school sneakers still hold in today’s lifestyle arena. Nike is one cult sportswear brand leading the movement and its Nike Air Max Plus — aka TNs - is another silhouette still topping headlines.

In comparison with other Nike OG silhouettes, the TNs are not as old as you’d think. Originally, the model was released in 1998 and was designed by Sean McDowell. From collaborations with fashion brands such as Supreme to football references like the Nike Air Max Plus Mercurial XXV, the Nike Air Max Plus keeps its relevance strong. It may have been 25 years, but the TNs never disappoint with each new launch.

Sure, Nike Air Max Plus’ groundbreaking design shook the world of sneakers since its release two decades ago. However, the shoe originally launched as a running sneaker and debuted Nike’s in-house Turned Air technology. Keeping that original experience, the formula provides you stability and added cushioning. It also features an airy mesh upper for breathability and Max Air sole units for extra bounce and comfort.

Back in the day, Sean McDowell’s first TNs design referenced Florida’s beach sunsets. Once again, this striking blue and red iteration takes inspiration from the beach and city life. The arch throughout the shoe references a whale’s tale, and its plastic fingers are an ode to the palm trees and ocean waves. The added white Swoosh gives the bright-colored shoe a minimal contrast.

The sky is the limit when it comes to picking Nike TNs colorways. If you are a minimalist, just look at Nike to find the Nike Air Max Plus that speaks to you. But, if you are a maximalist, these ocean-y TNs will become the star of your collection.
