A couple of months back, British retailer Size? Announced the release of an exclusive New Balance pack. The College Pack included a 574 and a 550 in classic two-tone coloring. The orange and white combination inevitably provoked comparisons to the Nike Syracuse colorway, undoubtedly one of Nike’s best varsity palettes.
But, seeing as the pack was a Size? Exclusive, it wasn’t long before the highlight 550 had sold out. Luckily, a new pair of orange New Balance 550s just dropped.
There are a couple of differences between the College pack drop and this latest release, though. The midsole loses its off-white, retro tinge and reverts back to a clean white hue while black accents are brought in to add punch to the outsole, heel, and tongue. Overall, the simplified palette leads to a more emphatic shoe.
Better still, with more of the upper now white — the 'N' logo is now white, as well as a number of panels — this orange New Balance 550 is a clean essential as we move into fairer weather.
