Patta / Dafe Oboro

After their Match and Rainbow collabs, Patta and Mephisto take a break from kicks and engage in the summer's non-sneaker agenda with a collaborative Sam sandal.

You might have seen the Patta x Mephisto Sam sandals if you were around Lagos, Nigeria, during the Homecoming Festival, as they were spotted on foot during the annual Easter weekend festivities. If not, you might've seen a similar shape being marketed as a "fisherman sandal," which Mephisto normally makes in single-toned iterations.

The Patta x Mephisto Sam sandals – slated to drop on April 29 at Patta's store and online channel — ooze with nostalgia and warm weather feels, touting the unforgettable late 90s, early 2000's caged toe upper, making for a perfect blend of the dad sandal and childhood jellies.

If the Sam sandals themselves didn't launch you into a time machine or even the summer mood, the collaboration's campaign definitely gets the job done.

For the aged-feel campaign, model Ali Hassan sports the Patta x Mephisto Sam sandals during a chill day at the beach, wearing season-worthy garments — reemphasizing the shoe's summery appeal in hopes of joining your season's shoe rotation.

I guess you could say that Patta is stuck caught up in the 90s, as the Netherland brand's Mizuno Sky Medal sneakers and apparel collaboration also followed the retro aesthetic of the era.

Like the duo's previous Match sneaker collab, Mephisto's signature SOFT-AIR technology takes over the sole of the Sam sandal, providing comfort and grip for wherever your summer adventures take you.

Meanwhile, the Sam sandals' pebbled leather straps — stamped with the Mephisto and Patta logos, of course — supply a dose of rich quality and visual appeal, accentuating the sandals' summer-approved green and cream colors.

Let's be honest, sneakers aren't the wave for the stickiest days of summer. Take notes from Patta & Mephisto, because sometimes dad knows best.
