PHIPPS

Having just recently arrived at SSENSE's online storefront, we can't take our eyes off the SS19 line of relatively new brand PHIPPS. Founded in 2017 by San Franciscan Spencer Phipps, if you're not yet familiar with the name, here's exactly why you need to right that wrong.

PHIPPS keeps sustainability and environmental responsibility at the front of everything it does, and its foal of re-connecting consumers to the world around them manifests not only in product integrity, but is notably the inspiration behind its SS19 "Nature Loves Courage" line.

Starting out as a few friends embarking on a small t-shirt project, it was only a matter of time before the Parsons School of Design graduate and former Dries Van Noten men's designer's vision caught the attention of the fashion elite. Championing a traceable supply chain that focusses on wholly sustainable materials, design motifs and graphics are also created with an education in mind – expressing a passion for all things relating to the natural world on raw textiles utilizing natural dye pigments.

Now based in Paris, highlights from its SS19 collection come in slouchy, masculine silhouettes seen on an organic cotton jersey tee with graphic patches on its chest or boxy "Tree of Life" slogan blue terry hoodie, plus elevated workwear such as waterproof nine-pocket cargo pants or an EtaProof vest with a large zippered pocket at its chest.

Having just killed it in its FW19 show in Paris just recently, PHIPPS is only just teasing what it can do. Its "Nature Loves Courage" collection is your shot at being the person who was rocking PHIPPS before it was spotted in every street style round-up of the next major fashion events.
