Sempach's Military-Inspired Luxe Functionality Returns For FW16
Sempach continues in its line of repurposing and reinterpreting Swiss Army design and materials with its latest set of highly functional yet pared down outerwear for the FW16 season.
Luxe quilted jackets make a comeback, reinterpreting the fundamental design elements seen in their first collection (or "chapter") that originally reworked Swiss Army sleeping bags. New for FW16, technical components seen in Swiss Army backpacks have been incorporated alongside the trademark quilted fabric, while the same wool used for army blankets has been used to craft the inner lining gilets of this season’s jackets.
Meanwhile, a sturdier uncoated cotton weave, directly inspired by materials used in field army tents seen in Sempach’s "second chapter" (Spring/Summer 2015), is used for the brand’s heavier winter jackets.
Finally, rounding out Sempach’s offering is the quilted ripstop nylon fabric that appears both as inner liners in Sempach’s outerwear collection, but that equally doubles up as lightweight wind-insulating jackets themselves. The ripstop nylon ("no rip netting") is the exact same fabric used in the parachute’s of the Swiss Army’s 17er Kompanie.
A simple collection that perfectly melds functionality with classic, well-established sartorial principles, in our opinion, this is the best collection Sempach have fielded. The collection is available now via eminent boutiques including Antonioli Inner, Isetan, UNITED ARROWS and 18 Montrose. Check out Sempach’s stockists now for the release.
