Sir Darryl Farris, known professionally as SiR, is the latest musician to participate in NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series. The performance finds the TDE artist sharing songs from his most recent LP, Chasing Summer, which released in August of last year.

NPR points out that SiR was noticeably focused during the beginning of the performance, while his bandmates carried on energetically around the desk. The 33-year-old musician later revealed that the reason for his behavior was the death of his infant godson, whom he lost just days before the appearance.

"We're doing this for him," he said. "It took a lot for me to be here today... but we're gonna get through this."

With support from his band, SiR then went on to perform standouts from Chasing Summer, including "The Recipe," "New Sky," "Wires in the Way," and "John Redcorn." To further aid in the performance, SiR was joined by his mother and older brother, who made up two-thirds of his background vocalists.
