Nearly 30 years after Whoopi Goldberg first starred as a singing nun in Sister Act, the iconic film series is returning under the helm of Tyler Perry for Disney+.

According to Variety, Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, announced this week that Goldberg and Perry are currently in the development stage on the film – and yes, Whoopi is back as Deloris van Cartier!

This isn't the first time that Sister Act 3 has been teased. However, it was originally rumored to shut out Whoopi altogether. That is, until Tyler Perry came into the picture as an official partner two years ago while promoting his film Nobody's Fool, which also stars Goldberg. Speaking on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Perry suggested he and Goldberg had teamed up to produce a third Sister Act.

Now we know it's only a matter of time until we'll be streaming Sister Act 3 on Disney+.
