Where form meets function

Contemporary American artist, Tom Sachs, has revealed an array of fantastical new furniture designs via Instagram, which are now available for viewing by the public attendees at this year’s Art Basel in Miami. Which is taking place this weekend.

Sachs, who also worked on the set design for Frank Ocean’s Endless is known for his controversial Hello Kitty Nativity scene (which added a McDonald’s logo to the inn) and for his space-themed collections which saw full-scale reproductions of space stations with added bonuses like vodka bars and reading libraries (sadly, not typically found on real space stations ).

His latest furniture designs combine materials such as plywood, steel and rubber with notable holes and circles reoccurring throughout. Flick through the rest of his designs on the Instagram post below.

In other news, an ultra-limited “Japan Camo” Nike Air Max 97 has just surfaced. Check it out here.
