The outfits: Chalamet wears head-to-toe Haider Ackermann, presumably from the brand's FW19 show in Paris; Scott wears a customized "Cactus Jack" suit by Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent; and A$AP Rocky opts for Loewe, wearing a pink suit from Jonathan Anderson's first standalone menswear show.
Location: Chalamet hit the BAFTA Awards in London, while Scott and Rocky were at the Grammys in Los Angeles.
Why the looks work: Admittedly, these looks are all wildly different from each other, but they can all be compiled into one style summary because each deviates from what we've come to expect of red carpet attire for men.
Scott's look is the subtlest in terms of color, yet although his all-black Saint Laurent suit might seem low-key, pairing it with a diamond necklace, T-Shirt, and "Cactus Jack" graphics on the back lends the look a playful nonchalance.
As always, Rocky's on form. This time, though, the babushka has been set aside. At the Pre-Grammy Gala, he rocked an oversized, powder pink Loewe suit, complemented by a white giant-cuffed shirt and white sneakers. Not only does Rocky's ’fit bring the drama in a serious way, it continues the rapper's theme of wearing more (stereotypically) feminine shades and cuts on the red carpet.
Last but not least, Chalamet once again played with textures and clashing patterns, this time in full Haider Ackermann. The silk shirt and matching blazer are already quite a loud vibe, but pairing the combo with slightly cropped, red and black checkered pants is a total rule-breaker. And yet — Chalamet being Chalamet — he pulls it off with aplomb.
Editor's notes: As well as ignoring any rules, traditions, or sense of conformity, the unifying point with all of these looks is that all three men are having fun with their sartorial choices and it shows.
