Mickey Mouse is arguably the most iconic cartoon character of all time, and this year has seen no shortage of homages to, and collabs with the Disney poster boy. As he approaches his 90th anniversary, Disney and Vans saw fit to celebrate Mickey’s evolution from the 1920’s to today.
The incredibly comprehensive Holiday 2018 release memorialises Mickey’s film debut in 1928 with a remastered Sk8-Hi which references iconic scenes from the black and white silent film, Plane Crazy.
They’ve also transformed the Sk8-Hi for fans of Fantasia where Mickey played “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” Referencing the sorcerer’s hat, the Sk8-Hi features velvet quarter panels with moon and star embroidery, blue suede segments, and yellow stitching.
You might remember that last month Vans x Disney released a collaborative capsule of apparel and accessories made available October 5. This particular release extends the offering of footwear, apparel and accessories and focuses exclusively on Mickey’s legacy. A long-sleeve and Jockey Hat that capture Mickey Mouse’s spirit and evolution can be seen above.
The full capsule will be available from the Vans web store on November 16.
