Continuing our coverage of the world’s foremost fashion events, we turn our cameras to Christian Dada’s Fall/Winter 2015 presentation in Paris. Based in Tokyo, the 30-year-old designer Masanori Morikawa continues to embrace the principles of dadaism as he brings the imperfections abundant in creation to the forefront. A heavy ’90s vibe is felt throughout with a strong DIY aesthetic highlighting the designer’s deconstructionist tendencies. Imposing textual motifs add a sense of institutional detachment to a collection that is otherwise very personal. While skating has long since merged with the world of fashion, Morikawa takes the idea further, creating wearable installations for a collection that seems entirely of his own imagination.
