Normally on a shoot, the model doesn’t get to decide what they wear in front of the camera. But that’s what happened when LA label BRANDBLACK approached Rejjie Snow to try out their FW16 collection.

Then again, Snow isn’t exactly a model, and BRANDBLACK isn’t really a fashion brand, instead preferring to make essential streetwear pieces that are informed by its West Coast origins and that survive the variable nature of fashion. Rejjie Snow is no model either, but one of the scene’s most promising up-and-coming rappers. Together, the two present “Lost Angeles”, a journey across BRANDBLACK’s native LA, styled by Snow himself and shot by London’s creative collective, The Rig Out.

Hailing from North Dublin, Snow is now based in the UK. He burst onto the scene following his unusually soulful and poetic take on hip hop through his debut EP, Rejovich. His follow-up release, “All Around the World”, was produced by Cam O’bi and was quickly followed by “Blakkst Skn”, featuring Rae Morris and produced by the legend that is Kaytranada.

BRANDBLACK, meanwhile, has strong heritage in street and sportswear, born from US West Coast basketball culture and founded by David Raysse, formerly of adidas, Fila, and design company Philippe Starck. As such BRANDBLACK’s collections show a preference for technical fabrications and geometric lines, giving a casual yet techy look.
