Both A$AP Rocky and Ian Connor have been spotted strutting the streets of NYC in one particular Balenciaga number. This oversized embroidered sweatshirt is clearly a new fave among both of these industry-favorite influencers, and they’re not shy about stepping out in the same steez either.
The Balenciaga sweatshirt was featured in the brand’s show in Paris last season, and you can see it styled over a checked flannel shirt and hoodie below.
It’s a nostalgic nod to the bygone ‘90s sportswear aesthetic, and it’s made from thick loopback cotton-jersey making it a sturdy fall and winter staple. Cut in a boxy oversized fit, it’s an ideal piece for packing on the layers, and it’s embroidered with a ‘Homme’ logo, encircled by the cities of London, New York, Tokyo and Los Angeles.
Curiously, Balenciaga’s home turf of Paris has been left off the city list, suggesting Mr. Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga’s creative director, was inspired by bootleg culture and designer rip-offs where fake designer goods always come with an obligatory graphic mishap.
If you’re not convinced by Balenciaga’s show styling pictured above, then perhaps you’d prefer to take your style cues from A$AP Rocky. If so, pair with a sturdy pair of black workwear pants and seal your look with a pair of fresh Vans.
However, if Ian Connor’s styling choices are more your game, then accessorize with a backpack, keychain and make it all summertime steez with a pair of easy, breezy shorts in black for a slick, clean finish.
