adidas and Gucci know that you can't have too much of a good thing, which is presumably why they're apparently getting back together for a second collaborative drop. adidas x Gucci first launched in 2022 and with round two coming in 2023, perhaps it's a sign that we'll be making this a yearly thing. Why not?

An adidas representative declined to comment but a representative for Gucci did confirm to Highsnobiety that the second major adidas x Gucci drop will indeed launch in late March "with a focus on footwear," so expect clothing to take a back seat to the footwear this go-round.

First-look leaks of new adidas x Gucci Gazelles, ZX8000 sneakers, and Adilette slides initially made their way across social media in mid-March, all but confirming that there was indeed a second round of adidas x Gucci goodness in the pipeline.

Some leakers are also highlighting supposed new adidas x Gucci items in anticipation of the drop.

However, they appear to be confusing new adidas x Gucci clothing with currently available product that dropped last year, like velvet tracksuits and co-branded anorak jackets.

As mentioned earlier, expect adidas x Gucci part two to emphasize sneakers and sandals, not apparel (though some co-branded clothing will likely also be available).

Still, remember that adidas and Gucci used language like "inaugural" when revealing their debut collaborative collection, which intentionally left the door open for another drop.

adidas x Gucci was first revealed around this time last year, subsequently teased during Fashion Month and the Academy Awards, and then the collab actually dropped in early summer, followed by sneaker and accessory releases that fleshed out the initial adidas x Gucci offering. So, the timing is right.

There was also an adidas x Gucci ski collection that dropped in late 2022 but that was more of an hors d'oeuvre than entrée so let's consider it a transitionary line rather than standalone collection.

Neither adidas nor Gucci's collab websites have been updated with any new items in the meantime, though Gucci still has plenty of pieces on hand from the first couple drops if you'd like to whet your whistle.

The adidas x Gucci news follows rumblings that another adidas x Balenciaga collaboration is also planned for 2023 — again, pure speculation built off of supposed sneaker leaks.

adidas declined to comment on the rumored second Balenciaga collaboration.
