Demna Gvasalia has partnered with New York City publisher Rizzoli on a new coffee table book, Balenciaga: Winter 18. The 304-page fashion tome showcases the development of the Georgian designer and Basque label’s FW18 collection.

For Balenciaga, FW18 was notable for the man-made graffiti mountain, neon-colored polo necks, a charity hotline, and a multilayered jacket that spawned several fashion memes and Twitter hot takes. To offer a more considered insight into the collection, Gvasalia selected photographers Johnny Dufort and Pierre-Ange Carlotti to capture the creative process, from the castings at Balenciaga HQ to backstage at Paris Fashion Week and an impromptu photo shoot at the end of the show.

Elevating the book in the same way as Balenciaga’s high-end products, two neon tones were added to the standard CMYK color model, giving each image an effect that can’t be replicated on screen, and the beveled edge with an all-over graffiti print cover, making for a premium artifact even when the book is closed.

Balenciaga: Winter 18 will be available for $95 exclusively on Balenciaga from November 7, at selected European book retailers shortly after, and then released worldwide on February 5, 2019. Take a look at the preview above.
