Matt Powell, vice president and senior industry advisor sports for NPD Group, recently published a report on athletic footwear and apparel in 2019, which includes a list of the ten best-selling sneakers of the year. Nike completely dominates, landing a total of seven sneakers on the list (when including Nike-owned Converse and Jordan Brand sneakers).

The best-selling sneaker in dollar rank, according to Powell, was the Nike Air Max 270, which made its market debut in early 2018. Two other Nike sneakers make up the top three: the all-time classic Nike Air Force 1 low and the Nike Tanjun, which often features at the top of the quarterly and yearly roundups done by Powell and NPD.

The only non-Nike sneakers to make the list are the adidas NMD R1 (in fourth), the adidas YEEZY Boost 350 V2 (sixth), and the Vans Ward (seventh). Other highlights include the Nike Air Jordan 4 (fifth) and the Nike Air Jordan 11 (tenth).

Interestingly, the aforementioned YEEZY is the only collaborative sneaker to make the list. The rest of the sneakers are either classic silhouettes or affordable general release models (in the case of the Tanjun, NMD, or Vans Ward).

The Nike Air Jordan 4 celebrated its 30th anniversary lsat year, which resulted in an increase in collaborations and colorways that were released in 2019, certainly aiding in the sneaker’s placing on the ranking.

The Air Jordan 11, on the other hand, was last year’s big holiday release but did not see a large number of variations hit the market over the past 12 months, perhaps proving the model’s continued grail status among sneakerheads.

Check out the full ranking below. For the full report, head to NPD.
