20th Century Fox Settles 'Die Hard' Christmas Movie Debate Once and for All
It seems 20th Century Fox is also tired of the decades-long debate over whether or not Die Hard counts as a Christmas movie. The Hollywood studio has just released a new trailer for the Bruce Willis action classic that reframes it as a festive romp. Watch above.
Over recut scenes from the film, the voiceover dubs Die Hard "the greatest Christmas story ever told," with 20th Century Fox adding trailer narration to make it more fitting for the holidays: "This is John. He just wants to spend Christmas with the family. But when he gets stuck at the office party, it'll be a holiday he'll never forget!"
Universally accepted as one of the greatest action (and Christmas) movies of all time, director John McTiernan's terrorists-in-a-skyscraper bullet-fest turned comic actor Willis into an action hero overnight. And in Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber, it also gave us one of the silver screen's most memorable bad guys.
What do you think? Is Die Hard a Christmas movie or not? Let us know in the comments.
In other festive movie news, Macaulay Culkin is 'Home Alone' again in Google's new holiday ad.
