Netflix continues to ramp up its original content output, as this week we get a look at yet another upcoming project. Extinction is a new sci-fi thriller directed by Ben Young, and written by Spenser Cohen, Eric Heisserer, and Brad Kane.

The original film focuses on a father (played by Michael Peña) who has a recurring dream of losing his family. After a while, however, he believes that these visions are signs of the future. Much like he suspects, his nightmare does turn into reality when the planet is invaded by an otherworldly phenomenon. Now, he must do whatever it takes to keep his family from harm.

Lizzy Caplan and Mike Colter star alongside Peña in Extinction, which comes to Netflix July 27.
