Today Instagram is announcing an easier experience to shop the products you love, all while on the image-driven social media app. Instagram in turn wants to make researching items featured in posts more convenient and less time-consuming.

Beginning this week, the social media app will be testing the new experience, aimed at providing you with additional information on desired products, and thus bridging the gap between first look and checkout. 20 US-based retail brands including Kate Spade, JackThreads and Warby Parker will be sharing posts that have more depth, making it easier for shoppers to review, learn about and consider the items that interest them.

Each post will feature a "tap to view" icon at the bottom left, showcasing up to five products and their prices. When you then select a tag, a new, detailed view of the product will appear. This in turn means that you will no longer have to switch between apps and/or browsers during the shopping experience in order to gain more knowledge on a desired product. Once you've decided on an item to purchase, all you have to do is tap "Shop Now," and you'll then be sent directly to the business' website for checkout.

During the initial testing phase, these new features will be available to a group of people on iOS devices within the U.S.

This summer, Instagram introduced a new feature that allows users to zoom in on photos and videos.
