KITH

Brand: KITH x New Balance

Buy: KITH's website and stores from June 12 at 11 a.m. EST for $165 apiece

Editor's Notes: First revealed on the cover of SHOES MASTER and teased by Ronnie Fieg himself, KITH's take on the chunky New Balance RC_1300 is very nearly upon us. Turns out, the shoes are part of a celebratory pack that commemorates KITH's 10th anniversary this coming November, and their launch is heralded by a star-studded campaign that celebrates some of KITH's influential peers.

Artist Daniel Arsham, designer Martine Ali, chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Michael Madsen, and several other KITH pals (remember, "kith" basically means "friends") star in the campaign, which sees them all in their natural habitats, whether that's in a recording studio, ceramic workshop, or a chess table at Washington Square Park. Naturally, each person is wearing their preferred KITH RC_1300 colorway to boot.

The actual New Balances at hand are very much in line with Ronnie Fieg's collaborative ethos: premium materials in an attractive package. Realized in "Astro," "Canvas," and "Dusty Mauve," the sneakers are all aligned with KITH's own muted color palette. Pigskin suede and mesh uppers uphold the tonal makeups, only interrupted by clean contrasts of white. There are some subtle nods to the sneakers' collaborative intent, like the co-branded tongues, debossed KITH monogram atop the "N" logos, and two asymmetric embroidered logos — a little pegasus and "NB" — near the left and right toes, respectively.
