Levi's is celebrating the iconic 501 jean with a collaboration alongside GOLF WANG. Consisting of a pair of denim and a trucker jacket, the capsule is scheduled to release on May 20, 501 Day.
The GOLF WANG collab draws inspiration from a rainbow polka-dot jean that Tyler created for GOLF WANG's 2016 runway show. Here, we find the 501 ‘93 jean and vintage fit trucker jacket covered in a rainbow print polka-dot pattern.
According to Levi's, the straight leg, vintage-inspired 501 '93 denim adheres to Tyler, the Creator's preferred baggier style. In the same vein, both Levi's and GOLF sizing are featured on the slouchier 501 as a nod to Tyler's habit of sizing up. The 501 jean and trucker jacket are each finished off with a special edition co-branded patch on the back.
The Levi's x GOLF WANG 501 Day collaboration will be available from May 20 on Levi.com, GOLFWANG.com, and the Levi's app.
In further celebration of the 501, Levi's is releasing five limited edition pairs of the 501 jean with a special tag. 501 pairs of the 1971 501 will be available, with only five boasting big “E” Red Tabs as opposed to small “e” Red Tabs. The Red Tabs will be wrapped in gold foil, leaving the branding a mystery until after you purchase.
Levi's points out that the big "E" previously equated to a pair of authentic vintage 501 jeans, while the small "e" jeans from the '70s remain difficult to find in their own right.
