Rihanna is no stranger to starring on the front page of glossy magazines, but her latest cover for GARAGE might be her most legendary yet. The international icon is the face of the 15th issue titled "The Human Future." In a detailed breakdown about the cover, GARAGE fashion features editor Rachel Tashjian reveals that Rihanna is decked out in pieces from Dolce & Gabbana and Y/Project along with some flashy bling from Tiffany & Co. and other vintage accessories.
“Rihanna is perhaps our most human of pop idols—unguarded, miraculously vital, perfect in her imperfections—making her the consummate subject for Deana,” stated Mark Guiducci, editor-in-chief of GARAGE.
Deana Lawson, a New York-based artist primarily known for showcasing the delicate layers of intimacy within the Black American experience, was tapped to shoot the cover. Not only does this mark her first-ever magazine cover, but it is also Lawson's debut fashion editorial. Back in 2016, one of her portraits was used as the cover art for Blood Orange's album Freetown Sound.
