Rimowa

We all know how much the Arnault family, owners of the LVMH luxury conglomerate, loves NFTS but we didn't realize how much that appreciation would spill over into the output of its various houses. We've already seen Tiffany & Co. glamorize Cryptopunks and Fendi drop a crypto wallet, now RIMOWA is packing its signature luggage for a trip to the metaverse.

RIMOWA isn't journeying into unexplored territory alone, though. The German casemaker has enlisted Nike-owned web3 studio RTFKT as its guide to make the expedition a smooth one.

And where are the duo off to? Why, outer space, of course.

There's a whole host of web3 escapades that'll flesh out this partnership, including an ARG "quest" that begins on October 27, inviting fans to collaboratively solve a series of challenges aboard "a hacked RIMOWA x RTFKT space station."

Once reactivated, the space station will allow users to enter a raffle. Winners will allowed to mint one of 888 RTFKT x RIMOWA NFTs, which come in the shape of digicamo-printed suitcases.

The NFTs can then be forged (read: exchanged) to redeem a physical version of the suitcase. Only 888 cases will ever be made (one for each NFT, natch) so they're essentially the grand prize at stake.

But that's not all: RTFKT is dropping thematic Avatar Wearables for their RTFKT Clone characters and 2,222 accompanying NFTs of the robots that toil inside the RIMOWA x RTFKT "universe."

“Working with RIMOWA has been a dream of ours since day one,” RTFKT Co-Founder Benoit Pagotto said.

“Who wouldn’t be honored to be able to bring their iconic designs into our world and create a spaceship, robot and travel tools for Web3 builders and hackers? We really put all our passion into this project, while pushing boundaries in terms of the minting experience, 3D space and draw to raffle system.”

It's been a good year for RTFKT and RIMOWA alike, with the latter label designing a wine case and new Daniel Arsham collaboration,

Indeed, now that RIMOWA has gone "Around the World," if you will, it's about time that it heads beyond the stratosphere.
